A Blank Satisfaction…?

Posted by xanthis on September 11, 2007

Are we going through a blank satisfaction? Is this satisfaction about such matter, which really does not exist? We know about the rabbit which knows there is a hunter with a riffle behind the bush but it remains tensionless, claiming that the hunter is not seeing him,, where in real, the hunter is aiming his riffle to that poor rabbit. This is called a blank satisfaction. But the thing to regret is, the end of the blank satisfaction trance is very depressing, very very depressing.
Anyone who passes HSC gets GPA 5. Or so it seems and anyone getting anything below 5 seems to have failed. The opinion isn’t that far-fetched given that 10,205 students got straight 5 this year. It’s like hitting a jackpot, one either gets 5 or doesn’t. No other GPAs matter.
But the big question that hangs on everyone’s mind is whether the relatively new system of grading a true reflection of performance. How can one understand how one has faired when everyone around is carrying the same score card. When too many students do brilliant result, the brilliance itself looses its charm. How do you define brilliance then? In some good schools in Dhaka, 80% of students who appeared for the exam got 5. When the 1st and the 80th student on the merit list of a class get the same mark, how can anyone judge? The judgment itself is flawed. In such a scenario both of them suffer. The 1st girl who studied all her life makes 5 and when she sees the 80th girl getting the same, she is utterly disappointed. In the same manner the 80th girl looses her drive to excel sensing victory as easy and comfortable. For many 5 seems a sure shot.
A big flaw of our SSC and HSC is its one-time shot. So many things can go wrong during the exam or exam preparations. One may fall ill or family problems can interrupt studies. Nonetheless the ultimate score depends on just one big exam. Whatever one studies throughout the year is reflected in just one exam. If you do bad here, there is simply no respite.
The next big hurdle is getting into the top-notch universities i.e. BUET, the national medical collages and DU. But the seats here are extremely limited in number compared to the brilliant scores. Here lies the die hard competition of snatching the coveted seat. Some 5 GPA scorers get into good universities whereas some can’t get admission anywhere. In such a situation what value does GPA 5 hold?
When the system of judgment seems flawed, people loose their faith on it. Students get demotivated and the whole nation suffers as a result.
May be the present authority is in the trance of blank satisfaction.

Lawrence’s approach to unite them later led these clans to argue for Arab independence under loyalty of Prnice Faisal after the fall of Damascus.

davidlean.jpgLegendary British film director, David Lean had added another milestone after his record of highest Academy Award winning film “The Bridge on The River Kawai“. T.E. Lawrence has been portrayed by Academy Award winner Peter O’Toole. The main supporting actor Omar Sharif has portrayed Sherif Ali. Hail Tauqir for ‘Daruchini Deep’

Posted by xanthis on September 5, 2007

tauqir_ahmed.jpgThis was my first experience of watching a movie in Star Cineplex of Boshundhara City Shopping Complex. I totally agree that the thanks must go for Tauqir Ahmed, his ‘Daruchini Deep’ has made my first visit a glorious one. I must consider that, ‘Daruchini Deep’ is one of best Bangla films I have ever watched. Here I want to put a little note that, I believe in watching a movie for quiet many times [may be it sounds too much boring] which gives me the confidence to justify the movie. So, I have to wait until I buy the DVD of ‘Daruchini Deep’ as soon as it appears to stores. Appa (my sister), Jami Bhai (my bro-in-law), Bhabi, my cousines Tamal Bhaia, Emila, Tahnik, Maisha, Shadman, Shamik, Tanvi, Oyishik and my nephews Zaeen & Risat; total fourteen of us including me have enjoyed the movie. This was entirely sponsored by Jami Bhai as he took his beloved (damra) ’shala-shali’s to the movie.

250px-humayun_ahmed.jpgThis movie tells the story of 9 friends, who were preparing for a visit to Saint Martins Islands (fictionally featured as ‘Daruchini Deep’). But each of them was facing multiple familiar or, financial problems which were putting them into the tension that their dream to visit ‘Daruchini Deep’ is not going to come true. Many incidents have been featured by concerning Bangladeshi socio-economic reality. But finally the last minute of the movie made its viewers had a great relief when the dream of 9 friends was shown to be in the way of coming true, all of them managed to get into to the train to Chittagong, which apparently initiated their tour.

momo.jpgThe movie is based on the popular novel ‘Daruchini Deep’, written by Humayun Ahmed. But it was the amazing brilliancy of Tauqir Ahmed who has shown this entire story keeping accordance to the reality, with a very realistic screenplay.

The most interesting thing was, Tauqir Ahmed also enjoyed the film with us with his family. His wife, another superstar and one of mentors of Bangladeshi modeling arena, Bipasha Hayat was present there too. After every funny scenes of the movie, I had a look on Tauqir Ahmed, who was just two rows behind from us. But Tauqir was never seen to laugh rather he was looking a little tensed. May be he was continuously scrutinizing what he did in the set. After the show ended, I didn’t forget to say thanks & congratulate Tauqir for excellent piece of work he did.

Each and every actors & actress have done amazingly well that sticked us into our seats all along. Momo, Riaz, Abul Hayat, Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Challenger, Bindu, Imon, Mosharraf and all of other artists deserve to be hailed. Specially Momo, I never expected this kind of stuff from a newcomer, she has done awesome. Go ahead Mom! Go ahead Tauqir!
